The government launched the 'Auto Driverla Sevalo' scheme providing Rs 15,000 in annual financial assistance to over 2.9 lakh auto-rickshaw, cab and maxi-cab drivers, with about Rs 436 crore being disbursed directly to beneficiaries for 2025-26. It is positioned partly to support drivers whose livelihoods were affected by the free women's bus-travel initiative.
