Consider extending the Old Pension Scheme to employees who joined since 2006

Partial. The promise was to sympathetically consider extending the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to pensionable employees who joined since 2006. By notification on 24 January 2024 the government brought about 13,000 employees - those notified before 1 April 2006 but appointed later - under OPS. A broad extension of OPS to the wider body of post-2006 NPS employees has not been done; the state has since leaned toward examining the Centre's Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), which employee associations have resisted in favour of full OPS. Partial delivery against a soft, consideration-based commitment.
