“We will establish science parks in various cities, to ensure that the spirit of scientific inquiry is within reach of Bharat's youth.”
The promise was to establish science parks in various cities for youth scientific inquiry. Official evidence maps this most closely to the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science, implemented by the National Council of Science Museums, which supports Science Cities, Science Centres, Innovation Hubs and Digital Planetariums across regions. By July 2025, the government reported 27 Science Centres established under SPoCS and more than 15 lakh footfall in FY 2024-25, with outreach through hands-on exhibits, innovation hubs, digital planetariums and science workshops. The government also listed state-wise approved and ongoing projects, including science centres and digital planetariums. This is partial because SPoCS is active and relevant, but a distinct post-2024 scaled programme specifically branded as science parks across cities, with a new all-India target and delivery count, was not found. Budget: direct mapped funding exists through SPoCS project support, including 90 percent Ministry funding for North-East examples and project-wise sanctioned, disbursed and utilised amounts in official annexures; no separate current-year budget line only for new science parks was verified.
Ministry of Culture reported that 27 Science Centres had been established under SPoCS and recorded more than 15 lakh footfall in FY 2024-25.
