The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (along with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) was enacted in December 2023 and came into force on 1 July 2024, replacing the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act. Implementation is under way through large-scale police, prosecution and judicial training, integration with forensic and e-evidence systems, and the introduction of the new laws into university and law-school curricula. The enactment is complete; full, effective nationwide implementation (including capacity building and case-system transition) is an ongoing process. Partial.
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 comes into force (replacing the Indian Penal Code), with implementation via training, forensic integration and new curricula.
