Seek permanent membership of the UN Security Council

India continues to actively press for permanent membership of a reformed UN Security Council, raising the case consistently at the UN General Assembly, G20, G7 outreach and through the reformed-multilateralism agenda, and securing rhetorical support from several major powers. However, UNSC reform remains stalled, no expansion has occurred, and India has not obtained a permanent seat — the substantive outcome the pledge points toward.
