“The BJP Government, to provide unorganized laborers and the poor of Uttarakhand with a pension of upto ₹ 6,000 and an insurance cover of ₹ 5 lakhs, will undertake a large scale registration drive to enroll unorganized workers through the e-Shram initiative of the Central Government.”
The promise combined large-scale e-Shram enrolment with a pension of up to Rs 6,000 and insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. PIB data shows 30,55,414 Uttarakhand registrations on e-Shram as of 19 December 2024, so the enrolment route is active at scale. But e-Shram linked welfare information shows Rs 3,000 monthly pension under pension schemes, Rs 6,000 only jointly if both spouses join, and insurance cover under linked PMJJBY/PMSBY is generally Rs 2 lakh rather than the promised Rs 5 lakh. The verdict is partial because registration and some social-security linkage exist, but the promised benefit package is not fully verified. Budget status: central scheme architecture exists, but no Uttarakhand-specific allocation for the promised Rs 6,000 plus Rs 5 lakh package found.
BJP manifesto promised a large-scale e-Shram registration drive for unorganised workers and poor households, linked to pension and insurance benefits.
