Promote sports startups and a sports technology ecosystem

The promise was to promote sports startups and help create a sports technology ecosystem. Official policy evidence now supports part of the commitment: National Sports Policy 2025 recognises sports as an economic sector and explicitly calls for strengthening the sports manufacturing ecosystem and promoting startups and entrepreneurship in the sector. Union Budget 2026-27 also announced the Khelo India Mission, whose framework includes integration of sports science and technology along with infrastructure, talent pathways, coach development and competitions. These are credible steps toward a sports technology ecosystem. However, approved-source evidence does not yet show a dedicated sports-startup programme, startup grants, incubator pipeline, beneficiary numbers or funding line specifically for sports startups. Therefore the verdict remains partial: policy direction exists, but implementation of a startup-specific mechanism is not yet evidenced. Budget: broader sports-sector funding exists through the Khelo India Mission and Ministry allocation, but no separate approved-source allocation only for sports startups was found.
