Double the Mudra loan ceiling from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

The promise was to raise the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana loan ceiling from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. This has been directly delivered: the Finance Minister announced the enhancement in Union Budget 2024-25, and PIB reported that the new limit took effect on October 24, 2024 through a new Tarun Plus category for borrowers who had successfully repaid earlier Tarun-category loans. PIB later confirmed in 2026 that PMMY now extends collateral-free credit up to Rs 20 lakh through member lending institutions and that Tarun Plus loans above Rs 10 lakh and up to Rs 20 lakh are available to eligible entrepreneurs. Since the promised ceiling itself has been formally raised and operationalised, the verdict is fulfilled.
