Develop harmonised legal standards for cultural IP protection

The promise was to collaborate with domestic and international organisations such as WIPO and UNESCO to develop harmonised legal standards for cultural IP protection. India achieved a relevant partial milestone through the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge, which was adopted in May 2024 and creates an international disclosure standard for patents involving genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge. India is also engaging with UNESCO on intangible cultural heritage documentation and nominations, but that work is heritage safeguarding rather than a cultural-IP legal standard. I did not find a distinct India-led WIPO and UNESCO framework for harmonised cultural IP standards covering cultural expressions, artefacts, traditions and community rights.
