Restore and preserve ASI-protected monuments

The promise was to restore and preserve culturally important ASI-protected monuments. ASI has 3,686 centrally protected monuments under its care and official evidence says it undertakes annual conservation work, structural repairs, chemical treatment, preventive conservation, inspections, capacity building and technology-supported documentation such as LiDAR, GIS mapping and drone surveys. A June 2026 PIB factsheet says around Rs 374 crore was allocated in 2024-25 for conservation and maintenance of protected monuments, and NMMA had documented 1.84 lakh monuments and 17.20 lakh antiquities by March 2026. This is ongoing because monument conservation is a continuous duty rather than a one-time completion target, and official evidence shows maintained activity. Budget: direct mapped allocation exists through ASI monument conservation and maintenance, including around Rs 374 crore for 2024-25; promise-specific utilisation by monument was not found.
