“We will expedite the construction of the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum, featuring millennia of Bharatiya history and work towards making it one of the most liked museums in the world.”
The promise was to expedite the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum and make it a major museum presenting millennia of Indian history. Official evidence shows active development: the Ministry of Culture held a four-day stakeholder and capacity-building workshop in June 2024, signed a technical cooperation agreement with France Museums Développement in December 2024, and confirmed in March 2025 that North and South Blocks will house the new museum. In February 2026, the Union Cabinet resolved that North and South Blocks be made part of the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum, which is a concrete institutional step. However, the museum is still upcoming and I did not find evidence that construction, galleries or public opening have been completed. Budget: the March 2025 Lok Sabha reply explicitly said project timeline and budget allocation were contingent on the feasibility study and subsequent formalities, so no direct approved budget allocation was verified in this batch.
PIB factsheet described Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum as a landmark institution being developed in New Delhi across the historic North and South Blocks.
